Ankle ligament sprains
Ankle sprains are one of the most common sports injuries, and one of the most often left untreated. Proper rehab helps you get back with confidence and lowers the chance of rolling it again.
Understanding the injury
Most ankle sprains happen when the foot rolls inward, stretching or tearing the ligaments on the outside of the ankle. They often happen on uneven ground, when landing from a jump or when changing direction.
Many people rest it and hope for the best. Without rehab, the ankle can stay weak and unstable, which makes another sprain more likely.
Common signs
- Pain and swelling on the outside of the ankle
- Bruising after rolling or twisting it
- Difficulty walking or putting weight through the foot
- The ankle feeling loose or rolling easily
